Hope (part 1)

Meet Hope.
Her mom Lily is giving birth to her. She was born on January 22, 2010 on a live webcam. Her mom lily is the first wild bear to give birth on the webcam with a live audience. Lily and Hope are North American Black Bears in Ely Minnesota. They are part of a study. The research on these bears is done by Dr. Lynn Rogers and his assistant Sue. Dr. Rogers is fondly referred to as the "Bear Walker". Dr. Rogers installed the den cam in Lily's den and people from all over the world were able to watch the birth of Hope.

This is Hopes story.
These bears have radio collars on them with tracking devices. This helps in knowing what territories the bears occupy, and their current location.  While "walking" with the bears Dr. Rogers accompanies the bears on their daily activities. Many of the study bears will allow him to interact with them, by checking heart rates and changing collars or batteries in the collars. You may find out much more information on Lily and Hope at http://www.bearstudy.org/website/
This is where Lily and Hope lived the first winter they were together.

Thousands of People enjoyed Lily and Hope that winter. There was a facebook page. The fans were called lilypadders. They made up names for the various creatures that frequented the den. Spiders, mice, sticks etc., were called names like Charlotte, Speeedy and EDWood.

Spring came and Lily and Hope left their den. During Hopes first summer adventure her and Lily were separated.
To be continued....

POEM

There is a wee girl
who won't grow up at all.
Did your angel bear her gently
because she was so small?
I wondered that you bothered,
it's such a long long way,
from Heaven to a parent's heart
and then not let her stay.
Forgive the tears and pleading
and bitterness we've shown,
we really did not understand
that she was just a loan.
We forgot in all the sweetness
and joy from day to day,
somehow we never really thought
she'd have so short a stay.

weird stuff

You can do weird stuff with the simplest objects.
Did you know you can put a bar of ivory soap in the microwave
and make a foamy mountain for the kids to play with?
We did it and my grandson was occupied for a while
playing with it outside of course!!

Covering things with glitter is also an easy thing and fun
for the kids to help.
I covered old burned out night light bulbs with modge-podge
then covered them with glitter.
I also took some shell I bought from the store
and did the same thing.

And there you have it a few simple decorations you can make with glitter.
I got a plastic pumpkin to do next.
Stay tuned...

I Carry Your Heart With Me

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
